Jane founded Mirae Law, LLC in 2004 with the vision of creating a premier law firm focused on specific legal needs of families and businesses with international backgrounds.

Under her direction, Mirae Law has become a respected community institution focused on helping business owners and their families face tough legal challenges unique to immigrant communities, such as Korean-American, Chinese-American, Japanese-Americans, and people from Mongolian backgrounds. 

 

Jane’s practice is concentrated on helping small to mid-size business owners face all facets of legal challenges including corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, real estate law, and estate planning. She has represented numerous clients at the US District Court of Northern District of Illinois in chapter 7 bankruptcy proceedings, as well as numerous administrative hearings and arbitration cases arising under the Fair Labor Standards act, the Illinois Minimum Wage Law, the Wage Payment and Collection Act, the and Illinois Unemployment Insurance Act.  Jane also represented clients in multi-million dollar commercial real estate acquisitions, where her prior experiences as an escrow closer and banker contributed to her success from the negotiation table to successful closing of the deal.  Having business owners as clients means that Jane also regularly helps clients with various contract reviews and drafting needs, including but not limited to, employment, sales, exclusive distributorship, and lease agreements.

 

Jane is licensed to practice in Illinois and New Jersey and is admitted to the general bar of the US District Court of Northern District of Illinois.  Jane is highly recognized in her community for her efforts to increase the general legal knowledge of the community by regularly conducting legal seminars and workshops.  She also regularly contributes to the local newspaper and radio stations about laws and legislation relevant to the local community.

 

Jane holds J.D. from the Chicago-Kent College of Law.  While at Chicago-Kent, she earned a Certificate in Labor and Employment Law and received Dean’s Honors.  Jane believes in constantly improving her skills as legal counsel to better serve her clients, and has participated and completed a program on negotiation at Harvard Law School in 2015.

Jane’s hobbies include cross-country skiing, running, museum hopping, traveling, and attending plays.  Jane is also an accomplished classical pianist and will play any chance she gets.
